AMO participated in the 4th edition of the African School on Migration statistics jointly organized by African Union Institute for Statistics - STATAFRIC and the Statistics Sweden (SCB), in partnership with the Expert Group on Refugee, IDP, and Statelessness Statistics (EGRISS). The 2025 edition of the School focused on enhancing statistical systems related to forced displacement and statelessnessย in Africa.
This high-level training brought together experts from national statistical offices, regional institutions, and international organizations, with the objective of strengthening the capacity of Member States and RECs to produce and use high-quality, harmonized data on refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and stateless populations.
The Observatory's official gained valuable insights through peer-to-peer exchanges and discussions on country practices, particularly concerning the inclusion of displaced and stateless populations within national statistical frameworks โ an essential component in advancing evidence-based migration policies across the continent.
African Migration Observatory (AMO) remains committed to supporting the development of robust, inclusive, and harmonized migration data systems in Africa, contributing to a stronger foundation for policymaking, protection, and integration.
